Sorry Ms.Jackson

Writing about Erykah Badu just made me think about the song, Ms.Jackson by Outkast.

The song discusses the problems that break-ups, separation, and divorce can have on a couple, and the animosity that a woman's mother can have for her daughter's former boyfriend or husband.

André Bejamin aka André 3000 wrote the song as an apology to Erykah's mother after their break-up. They have a son together named Seven and André's relationship with his babymama is pretty good, but felt that the relationship with her mother was going the opposit way, so he decided to do something that many men wouldn't. When I heard about what the song was truly about I, to be honest gained a whole lot more respect towards André Benjamin as a man and not just an artist, Because of all the love songs and broken hearted songs in the world I belive that this one, strangely is the most real because of the fact that a mother allways shares her childs pain, and how much pain Erykah ever felt, I bet that her mother felt even more for her beloved daugther as there is nothing in this world called kissing away someones trouble or pain, eventhought we would like to think that it does.. Def Poetry Jam

I am a huge fan of Def poetry Jam, And have been for a few years now, and the respect you get for some of the artists that appear on the show is just crazy.

I as an India Arie fan do from time to time listen to Erykah Badu aswell but, I would say that she's not all that compared to my queen India. ANYHOW! Thanks to her appearence on DPJ a few years back I started taking her seriously and gave her music a chance because of the (stupid?) fact that I didnt want to be one of those people that she was talking about on her appearence.
I cannot get enought of this clip. She is so thrue in what she says and I really, really respect that.

Another guy that I can't get enough of is, Shihan.
I just absolutely love his energy on stage, especiially when talking about love. I know for a fact that most people who once have experienced love or is experiencing it right now can relate to what he says, and if you don't then what you had, I guess...wasn't love.

YES! YES! YES! Run This Town!!! This is just too good, I have not seen a hiphop video like this since Tupac and Dre's - California. I normally don't have much for Rihanna, I just see her as one of Jay's and Neyo's puppets, but her voice really works for this song and she looks real strong in the video aswell, very well fitting with the theme.

The video is about a civilization that takes Jigga’s lyrical motif of “all black everything” very seriously.

When I first heard “Run This Town,” I pictured Jay-Z and his posse staging a siege on Manhattan, or at least going to all the VIP spots most civilians only dream about like in the “D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)” video.
Instead, we’re introduced to a Mad Max-like landscape full of proto-biker gear, torches, face scarves and bombed-out buildings. Jay-Z and his gang of ruffians actually look like they’re on a mission to slay Auto-Tune.

Also, according to the video, Rihanna is the only female to survive the apocalypse, and West’s verse about Reeboks, Rav4s and girls with two bee stings seem starkly out of place in the dismal future. I honestly do not understand how Jay-Z could accept Kanye's shitty vers on this track, It is...as said, truly out of place.

Style = Expression

What do you think about when you hear someone use the word “style”?

Whenever the term “style” is used, it most commonly refers to one’s fashion or outer appearance. But I want to remind you that style is much more than your shoulder length haircut, fashionable coat, or your Ferragamo shoes.

Style = Expression

It’s the total combination of the way you dress, talk, move your body, or do anything for that matter. Simply put, it’s how we express our inner being outwardly. This includes all of our thoughts, emotions, interests, and values. Everything on the outside is merely a reflection of what’s on the inside.

While what you wear isn’t going to make up your entire impression, it does make up over 80% of your first impression. What you wear is what will kick-start the impression you make on others before you even open your mouth. This is the place from which people will filter everything you say and do.

Just because style = expression doesn’t mean you can wear whatever you want while ignoring the message it’s conveying. There is a “language” that is spoken through specific types of clothing, that you must become familiar with in order to make a more positive influence than a negative one.

For example, picture a man in a well-fitted suit telling you that he runs a multi-national corporation and makes billions of dollars. Then, picture a man in an ill-fitting, dirty outfit telling you the same thing. Which would you believe more?

Adam Baptiste aka ADL, member of Blacknuss is in my opinion the definition of style,because style is not allways equaled with expression but sometimes just perceivence and sence and this man right here has got fashion sense! As said before what you wear and how you wear it, make up for 80% of your first impression, I havn't met this man nor do I know him in a personal way, but my impression of him just by the look is, confidence, maturity, masculinity, authenticity, and just SUCCESS

Talent..

As most of you know, I LOVE people with lyrical and musical talent, especially people you dont expect it from. For me, finding a new artist or someone who's caught my...ear?, is by far one of the most exiting things I know.

So...Who have I found now? well, I dont know much about this girl...yes its a girl, but I do know her name, Jessica cornish, and I also know that she's from the UK. I acctually dont feel an urge to know more, cause her voice, lyrics and flow just says it all. This is my kind of music! enjoy people!

I am a Queen...

I, While being in Algeria, came to a very interesting conclusion, something that might just seem very logical to some people but Ive never understood until now.and that is simply I am worthy of more!

As some of my reader might know, I had a pretty bad break up not too long ago that resolved in, bad confidence, confusion and down right feeling pretty bad. These three weeks being gone, helped a lot, in terms of finding myself and acctually coming to terms that 'You are worthy more'.

That was when I was told, and noticed that I am indeed a fullfilled woman who does have a lot to offer a man despite my young age. I've allways had bad confidence in terms of brains, looks, personality and the list goes on. But even thought the facts would be that all of what is stated above was hit, I am still worthy more because of the simple fact that I am human, Ive never intentionally hurt anyone so why intentionally hurt me? whats the gain in that?.

As you guys know, I talk a lot about Al maktoub, and being hurt is a part of your maktoub, You need that sometimes to learn the hard way, to get to know yourself and what you are made of. Ive had many falls in my life, And Ive gotten right back up again, time after time. This fall though...was pretty hard. And Im proud of myself that Ive come to terms with it and used it to my benefit. Something that everyone should do. One person I owe this to is, weirdly enought... India Arie, A singer songwriter who by her lyrics had helped my grow throughout the last 5 years, she had a line in one of her songs ' The truth' where it says:

'If he ever left me, then I wouldnt even be sad, cause there's a blessin' in every lesson'

So thanks to India, I believe that I AM A QUEEN!

Motherland...

Just got back a couple days ago from my beautiful Algeria, Cant believe I waited 19 years to finally get there, but it was worth while and my maktoub I guess.

I, at first, thought the trip was going to end in horror, guess it was fear from the unknown, what my relatives would think of me, how people would act towards me or eachother, fear of findind out that my country and people maybe wasnt what I had thought theys be.

I came with no expectations and everything had been rushed throught the year so it never hit me that I was acctually travelling to ALGERIA! AFRICA! the country of my roots, the place where my mother was born. This may sound really stupid, but I was more curious than anything to find out, what the people looked like. If I myself resembled of a true algerian or... I dont know, just thought it would be interesting to know. And to my satisfaction I discovered our beautiful men. I knew that north african men looked good, but honey I did not expect this.

It hit me on my way back home that I nolonger have to say or be ashamed of the fact that Ive never visited my motherland.
